Hocking College
In 1968, Tri-County Technical Institute, the predecessor of Hocking College, opened in Nelsonville, Ohio. The institute's primary purpose was to provide local residents with technical training. Over Tri-County Technical Institute's history, the institution expanded its programs to include forty different Associate degree or certificate programs. Due to its diverse course offerings, in 1995, the institution became known as Hocking College. In 1998, almost six thousand students enrolled at Hocking College. The students came from all of Ohio's eighty-eight counties, as well as from twenty-seven other states and twenty-seven countries. In 2005, 5,500 students enrolled in Hocking College. Beginning in 1997, the college also operated a second campus at New Lexington, Ohio.
